Kashrus and Shemitta Update Elul 5769/September ‘09

  

  1. All FRESH Israeli produce is no longer subject to the restrictions of shemitta and may be eaten.  Please remember that Terumos and Ma’asros will need to be separated.  For further clarification please contact the Manchester Beth Din. 

 

  1. Frozen, canned and dried fruit and vegetables from Israel should be avoided until further notice.

 

  1. Please note that some dried dates are coated with glycerine/glycerol E422 and should not be eaten.

 

  1. Dried dates from Algeria are often infested and if bought should be checked thoroughly.

  We are pleased to inform the public that the following 4 products made by Heinz are now Kosher Certified (Parev), as well as their range of 22 types of Ketchups and Sauces.  These are: Heinz Salad CreamHeinz Light Salad CreamHeinz Extra Light Salad CreamHeinz Low Fat Dressing Salad Cream Our registered MK Logo is gradually appearing on this whole range of 26 products.
